Luxury fashion retailer to open new boutique in Nottingham
Nottingham’s Lister Gate has undergone a series of closures over the past year, but there is good news on the horizon with the opening of a new store.
Fashion retailer Flannels will move into an empty unit, which was left vacant when River Island closed in February.
The luxury clothing brand, owned by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group, sells designer brands for men, women and children, including Stone Island sweatshirts for £ 200 and Balenciaga sneakers for over £ 600. A branch is currently based at Bridlesmith Gate.
The demise of the Broadmarsh shopping center had a ripple effect on Lister Gate, leading to store closures.
Marks & Spencer Home, Boots, Shoe Zone, River Island and WH Smith are among those that have closed since the start of the pandemic.
Retail expert Nelson Blackley said: âThe news that Flannels, the UK’s luxury designer clothing and accessories retailer for men and women, is opening a store in Lister Gate is great news for Nottingham and a a real boost for a part of the city center which has really suffered from store closings and the drop in shoppers in recent years.
âIt comes just after the announcement of three new health and beauty store tenants for the Victoria Shopping Center.
âWith the easing this week of COVID-19 regulations for the besieged hospitality sector, boosting the wider evening economy, there are positive signs that Nottingham could slowly start to recover from the past 18 months. “
Nottinghamshire Live attempted to contact Flannels for an opening date.
