Fresno malls and stores brace for massive crowds to return during holiday shopping season

FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE) – For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the holiday shopping rush will apparently have returned to normal.

Long queues and of course that mad rush to get the best deals on Black Friday, which means local malls and stores are hoping this doesn’t turn into a madhouse.

It was a busy Monday at Fresno’s Fashion Fair Mall and decorations, a sign that the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping is here.

“Our sales are strong and we’re seeing pent-up demand from buyers, and we want the people of Fresno to truly have a fun, festive and gift-filled holiday shopping season,” said Brian Malony, Fashion Fair Mall. .

Within days of one of the busiest times for shopping, Malony says he expects a high turnout from shoppers, which means security measures need to be stepped up.

“Fashion Fair is fully prepared and ready for a great day of shopping, especially this weekend, but for the entirety of this holiday season,” said Malony.

Other representatives from local malls were unable to comment on the exact safety and security protocols in place before Black Friday, but the Fresno Police Department said they were working closely with them. local malls to ensure a safe and fun shopping experience.

They are tracking COVID-19 security measures and with the increase in holiday shopping, the mall will be staffed, ready to meet demand.

“Fully prepared and ready to see this wave of shoppers come in and excited to have fun over the holidays, the mall is prepared, staffed, ready to go,” says Malony.

In the old town of Clovis, while some are not too keen on shopping this season, others are ready to go shopping.

“I really love the experience of being in the store, listening to music and spending my time going out,” says Maddie Mills, a customer.

The Fashion Fair Mall offers options to meet the needs of all shoppers, extending curb and in-store pickup, and the ability to buy now and pay later.

During the holiday season, the mall’s opening hours will be extended.
